Have ZoneAlarm 3.1.395 on eight computers (OS is Win98SE). On two of these, I've noticed several times that the ZoneAlarm program settings have changed without any user intervention or upgrade. (The most notable is the change to ZoneAlarm's access from "allowed" to "ask".) Norton reports no viruses and Spybot reports no spyware but I've learned that norton has missed viruses. The only work-around I've found is to ask everyone to check their ZoneAlarm settings frequently.

No Wullie, I have the free version. I get the distinct feeling you're telling me that some outside source could be hacking the program. Not good! I'm 100% confident no one in our office would or even knows how to change these settings and they are just as paranoid as I am to viruses & trojans.

Really appreciate your feedback ^_^ It seems to get harder and more expensive to track down the gremlins! I've also heard from others than housecall has a better track record than norton.

By the way, would setting up network passwords for access to our puters accomplish the same results?

I would seriously doubt you are being "hacked". If they had gained access already why bother with the firewall, I've had a few settings change on mine before but that was usually down to user error/intervention.

Grenage,

I know that the users of the computers in question didn't change the settings. (They just let it sit there and do it's job ^_^) I just found it strange that the same program settings had changed on both computers. I do appreciate knowing that we haven't been hacked though. Some bugs show up in the strangest places.....
