I am trying to create 'Virtual' extentions to cover directly to voice mail, but not count against my license. On REL 11 and up switch's it appears I can create a station with type 'Virtual' and it does just that, however on my REL 8 switch I get the following: '"virtual" SA7844: Station Used as Virtual Extension feature is not activated' Does anyone know what 'Feature' is being referenced?

Use a Hunt Group...Have it cover to vm. The hunt group pilot number = the extension/DID you want to make it. This will not count against your staion RTU and it will allow you to cover directly to vm.

Hope that helps.

'Virtual Stations' were introduced in V9. Prior to that they were a Green feature (Special Development).

Putting an 'X' in the field counts against a license RTU, the I currently use VDN, and works just as the hunt-group, however neither of the options will allow the name to display in the Directory. How do you get a Green Feature installed?

Green feature is an "add on" so to speak not a normally carried feature. They can be turned on via a request through your normal business partner channels or Avaya directly. The cost varies based on the item requested.

Hello.
I am trying to use virtual stations and not use a RTU license however, they seem to still be using a RTU. any idea if I am doing something wrong.
Thanks

You cannot use "virtual stations" or "X" ported stations without them counting towards rtu.

That said as stated above Hunt Groups and or VDN's will do the same without costing you RTU.

If you really need it to route via the names directory (problem above) why not run it through some type of Auto attendant instead of the names directory?

It will never gain the functionality of a true station but I cannot imagine why you need a message only box in the name directory.

At what point is RTU worth paying for?

When I have to over engineer work arounds for it :p
