Hi all

I install a virtual server R9.1 I generated the licenses based on sid.
After few days I install sip lines so I had to change lan2, the sid changed and the licenses
are showing invalid, malformed.
That's correct but what about the 30 days grace period, I didn't change anything else.
All phones are showing not licensed.
Any one seen it before.

Yep, it even tells you during setup to ensure the IP address and hostname are correct as any change to them will result in a new SID.

You now need to perform a licence swap from the old one to the new one and reapply the new licences.

Thanks Pepp77 I know the procedure but what about 30 days grace period

There is no longer any grace period with Avaya - and there never has been on server edition.

From the manual R9.1

License Grace Period
If the virtual machine already contains licenses and the System Identification changes, the licenses remain valid for a 30-
day grace period. During that 30-day period, if you make more than 5 further changes to the parameters above, the
existing licenses become invalid immediately. Therefore, we strongly recommend that you finalize all these parameters
before acquiring any licenses from Avaya.

Ignore that then, I have had two sites where the SID changed and on neither site did the licences give me 30 days grace. Maybe it doesn't do it if you actually change an IP address (as the warning does state if this is changed licences become invalid). There must be another way the SID can change that does allow the 30 days grace. But then it is Avaya!

If it's SSU ask for licences and claim compensation from Avaya for the downtime, they sure as hell would bill you having them attend site for something that wasn't due to them. :)

The problem is that I assure the customer that the system should function for a month.
This is crazy as many customers changing there sip provider often, what are we gonna tell them.
You know in order to change your provider you must not have a functioning system for some days
until Avaya generate new licenses.
That is ridiculous.

You need to badger Avaya, it is ridiculous we agree, Avaya probably couldn't give a toss, you need to make them :)

I have to ask how changing SIP provider requires an IP address change or licences to be lost. Nothing about adding a new SIP provider should result in a new SID.

Many SIP providers insist on/prefer their own data circuit, so they probably enforce a new address range along with it :)

That's correct amriddle01 here the providers are using their own private network so every time changing sip
provider the ip changes.
