Hi there. I'm running a Virtual MAS Server and a Virtual MCD. MAS is version V5.0.208.0 and MCD is Release level: 7.0

I'm receiving the following error in Users and Services on the MAS when trying to edit any user properties that would normally get written back to the MCD. Note this deployment has work perfectly fine in the past and I cannot pinpoint any system or network changes that would have caused in interruption. Single Point Provisioning is enabled for the network element in MAS as well.

Error is:

Update User Error. Failed to start MiXML session. ; nested exception is: java.net.SocketException: Connection reset

Any thoughts?

Sounds like its having trouble with the MCD connection
is the username/password set on the network element correct ( can you log into the MCd with it?)
are they in the same network , if not is local networks set for the MCD

Turn off single point and try and edit the user do you still get an error?

if there is still an error then perhaps one of the blades has had some data changed on it directly ( rather than via USP)
- I have had similar problems where nupoint mailboxes were assigned to USP users via nupoint instead of in the USP blade

I assume that the server has been restarted ( if not thats probably worth doing as well)

If I never did anything I'd never done before , I'd never do anything.....

Thanks for the reply!

"is the username/password set on the network element correct ( can you log into the MCd with it?)

They are corrected, reentered and tested to be sure.

"Turn off single point and try and edit the user do you still get an error?"

I do not get the error if Single Point Provisioning is turned off.

"if there is still an error then perhaps one of the blades has had some data changed on it directly ( rather than via USP)

Ok...if that is the case how can I verify? And how to I correct?

"I assume that the server has been restarted ( if not thats probably worth doing as well)"

Yes, server has been restarted.

Ok so the problem is with the mas trying to write to the MCD ( probably not within the mas)

what kind of changes are being made and can they be made direct to the MCD

If I never did anything I'd never done before , I'd never do anything.....

User and Authorization
Did someone change the user created to access the MCD from the MAS?
Access set for Sys Admin and Application?

Simple change - like resetting the TUI password

"User and Authorization

Access set for Sys Admin and Application?"

Checking into that already. The account configured on the MAS is the same as the account on the MCD.

Just a quick update. I opened tech support ticket with Mitel. We will be upgrading the MAS s/w to the most recent release to see if that improves anything. As well we will be checking the installation of MiXML on the MAS server.

Its worth the effort the single point provisioning on latest mas now includes cos and cor per template and also sets a reroute 1st alternative on all nupoint users to the pilot
