virtual host/documentRoot

VirtualHost / DirectRoot /paths...I cant seem to understand the paths as good as i should.would like some help.
I have apahce 2.0 running and have my index page showing up on the web.But now I want to put ALL my html files on my own server.I use DYN to keep my IP the same.router set up correct.
my copy of V.H.

The <VirtualHost *:192.168.1.20> ip number is what I put
in for my server Behind the router.
I made my folders in
-htdocs
-homerepairs
-site
webpages [html files are here]

When I put a link and try to get info from my "webpages" folder,it will just come back Page cannot be displayed.

that I made in htdocs.

I could get them out only if they are in the htdocs
images i could get out of other folders.

and that works for the image.
I have no idea now.
I found out that there are no permissions on or for
apache when useing IE."XP"

my mistake....the image dose not come up,I had the
same image in 2 different folders.
i put a image of a hammer in the folder"homerepairs"
and cant call it up.

I ran out.
I cant see re-installing apache,because its working.
For htdocs.

I got it going.I had to change this
UserDir "htdocs/homerepairs"
#UserDir "homerepairs"

#changed line above homerepairs to htdocs/homerepairs
......................
and now I get my html pages and images.

ALL done,ya baby got it.
