Hello,

I have installed a VIO Server on a PowerBlade JS12 (Type 7998).
On this Blade a VIO Server is installed with a few LPARs.
One of them is a NIM server.
Everything works fine until I tried to update the NIM server.
Update to AIX 6.1 Technology Level 2 SP1 works fine and the server requests me to reboot so that changes take effect.

Since this time the server don't come up because he can't find his virtual disks any longer.

I tried to remove the disks, tried to create new one - but the NIM LPAR don't see the disks I assign to it.

Had anyone anytime such a problem? What can be a solution for this problem?

Thanks in advance.

Kind regards
René

What version of VIOS is currently running and what version was the NIM server at before you updated it?

VIOS is version

$ ioslevel
1.5.2.1-FP-11.1

I know there is a newer one....

The NIM Server was AIX version
$ oslevel -s
6100-00-01-0748

Is your blade's firmware up to date?

Good questions - I have to check...
Thank you for the hint.

While you're at it, check the adapter firmware and also the bladecenter (and its subsystems) firmware(s), although these last FWs should have no influence on JS blade internal virtualisation. But there may be compatibility issues between blade firmware and bladecenter firmware.
