We have Nortel quoting for a WLAN with 10 access points, and upgrading existing switches to 48 port 'business policy' switches - does anyone have any general views on the quality of their wired and wireless equipment/reliability etc please?
Can't speak for the wireless,we are about to evaluate it.
The wired equipment is great,we are a Nortel shop.
In 3 years only 2 Baystack 350's had a problem(bad ports).We have deployed Baystack 470-48 port switches,no problems.

Thanks netmanrick, good to know. Of our 5 current switches (cheap ones TBH), we've had bad ports develop on at least 3 in the last 3 years which is pretty scary!
We have been with Nortel since Baynetworks and even back to SynOptics and Wellfleet. Anyway, I digress, having evaluated the options we recently decided to expand our WLAN using Cisco 1200's. Nortel still seems to be a fringe player in wireless. Be sure you get the security and price, comparable with Cisco. As for switches I don't think we have any complaints with Nortel.
