Viewing Guides InDesign 2.0 1

For some reason in two of my documents I am unable to view the guides. The pasteboard area is also greyed out. How do I get the view back?

...under view menu check that screen mode is set to normal and also guides are set to show under view > grid and guide...

the shortcut for screen mode is the 'w' key, for guides it is control/command and ;

thanks for the help. i must have hit a key to make them disappear. hate it when that happens! the "w" worked!
