Good Day,
I was oping someone could perhpas or just give some advise. I currently have 40 Cd's with Images whose size i am currenly reducing from 150mb to between around 9mb -13mb per file. Now on Each Cd I have about 30 of these images(maps) on them.

I am currently sorting them as need to be, but was hoping to link this to a DB with some extra info about each Map when the users will be searching for something in particular. And also hoping to give the users a choice in Zoom In/ Out Cut a certain section and attach to a document, and noted various OCX / Active X to be purchased wich will include these functions.

I was wondering if somebody has maybe tried to do work with such big files in Access. Even though I am hoping not store in in the DB there will be more that one user viewing these maps. Will Access be capable of working with such big files. (It does have a dedicated server just for this, so network traffic has been thought of). I would really appreciate any advise.

Regards
Sn

I'd recommend that you just store the path of the file in your db and not the files themselves, then have some buttons on your form to fire off various applications and feed those applications with the file path.

this way, you keep the db size minimal and there shouldn't be any problems at all, at least not from your db...
