Hi

I have various Access 97 Datbases which I'm now looking to transfer to SQL 2000
well at least put the tables on SQL 2000 for which I presume I use the upsizing wizard? which cretaes the tables in SQL and then I link the Access tabels to SQL?
I still want to keep Access 97 as the front-end
What about queries? do I keep them in Access or can I transfer them to SQL? if so are there any problems in doing this?
any advice re. moving to SQL 2000 would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Gareth

Hi

MS Access 2000 (not 97) has a new project type : *.adp Access data project which permits to connect directly to a SQL Server. You may manage tables, views, stored procedures (stored in a SQL Server database) from this type of project and you may create also forms, report, modules, macros (stored in *.adp file).

Hi

There are no plans to buy in Access 2000 - I have to stick with Access 97

Thanks anyway

You can Upsize the Access 97 database to SQL 2000. You can create Views or Stored procedures in SQL sever from Access queries. You may not want to convert all queries. Some may be more appropriate in the Access front-end.
