Video Streaming over Linux

I need to take some camera's images (not webcam) and I need to broadcast it to a VPN network.
I saw that I need to use Darwin for Linux to stream, but I couldn't find a free broadcaster for linux or for windows.... Only Quicktime for MAC, and I don't have a MAC!

Plz help me!

check the Video Lan player. It seems it plays everyhting!!!
