Has anyone here had any experience with Video Conferencing solutions for the IP Office? I was asked to check into some things, and I'd like to hear from some people here as to their experience with them.

The solution we would be looking for would be for an enterprise type environment. We have around 30 offices. I have IP Office in about 20 of them right now. They are all tied together via MPLS.

Nobody? Really? Come on guys! [smile]

I have used polycom video units on the IPO with BRI's. we tried with PRI and could not get it working. It worked for dialing out. if you are doing it site to site within your network you would want to use IP.

I have an S08 module with a deticated PRI splitting bandwidth between 4 video conf. machines.

Some things could have changed. This has been working for about 4 years.

IPOffice SO8 (Video Conferencing Application) Configuration Guide
The following was obtained from the testing lab and is known to work in the field:

IPOffice Information -
To receive a data call with video a digital channel needs to be setup.

The following are parameters that were used for 4 data channels on a PRI line:
Line Tab
Line Number: 5
Channel Allocation: 23 -> 1
Switch Type: 5ESS
Line Sub Type: PRI
Provider: AT&T
Channels 1-4
Groups 95, 95 (in,out)
Direction: Bothway
Bearer: Data
Service: Accunet (this is a gotcha)
Admin: In Service

Advanced Tab
(setup as normal, ESF, B8ZS, Network Clock, Foreign Exchange, CRC=Yes)

To route an Incoming video call to an SO8 unit
1. Incoming Call Routing needs to be set up to route the call to a shortcode
2. A shortcode needs to be set up that has an SO8 port as its Line Group

The following Incoming Call route was setup:
Line Group: 95
Destination: 1500 (an arbitrarily defined unique shortcode)
Bearer: Any

The following Short Code was setup
Code: 1500
Number: 1500 (or blank?)
Feature: Dial
Line Group: 601 (an SO8 port#)

To originate a video call to go out a data channel, a shortcode needs to be setup that has the data channel as its Line Group
The following shortcode was set up
Code: 91N;
Number: N
Feature: Dial
Line Group: 95

Polycom Information
The Polycom units that can be used include: Viewstation 128/512/MP.
The Polycom unit must have software that supports 'Standard ETSI' ISDN (European ISDN... Big Gotcha)
The key setting for the unit is to have ISDN Switch Protocol set to 'Standard ETSI Euro-ISDN'

For anyone who has had success installing the S08 for videoconferencing on the IP Office. Can you please tell me if we are using a PRI circuit for voice and video - so we have to order the channels for video in a separate group? If that is the case how did you oder from the provider?
