I'm attempting to run a program (.prg) via an insert trigger in visual foxpro by inserting into that table from SQL server which is connected to the vfp table by linked server. The problem is that running a .prg from the trigger procedure returns an "unsupported command" error. In fact there are several commands (including the use of macros) that return the same error.

Is there any way around this?? is there perhaps an updated ODBC driver out there?? Or perhaps another way to run a .prg??

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

thanks. mike.

Mike, can you give an example of a command that is causing an error? Is this when you are trying to insert into a VFP table, or when trying to issue an SQL Server command? -----------------

hey, thanks for the response.

if i issue an "insert into" command from SQL Server, the insert trigger is run within my fox database. i am able to do this error-free when the trigger procedure simply accesses various tables (within or outside the current database) or runs other procedures (procs within that database). however, when that trigger procedure attempts to run a .prg (DO F:\MAIN\PPP.PRG), i get the "unsupported command" error.

also, attempting to use macros in the trigger procedure returns the same error...

any thoughts??

thanks again. mike
