can visual foxpro be linked with crystals reports?

Assuming you are using a recent version of VFP, you will need the Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Visual FoxPro. If your users don't already have this, they will need to download it from Microsoft and install it on their system.

You should then do the following:

1. Open Crystal Reports. Launch the report wizard. In the data page, drill down to Create New Connection, and then double-click on OLE DB (ADO).

2. In the OLE DB Provider dialogue, select Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Visual FoxPro. Click Next.

3. In the next dialogue, in the Datasource box, type the full path and filename of the DBC file that you wish to access. Click Finish.

4. You should now see the DBC file in the data page, below the node you just clicked on. Drill down to see the tables and views in the DBC.

5. Select the tables or views you want to use in the report, and drag them to the right-hand side of the dialogue.

That's all there is to it. From now on, CR will treat the data just like any other data. You don't need to do anything special because it comes from FoxPro.

Hope this helps.

Mike
