I have searched the forum and have found an item that gives a reference how to do this when Project Info method does not work. Unfortunately the link in that thread points to a 'commercial' site rather than the correct thread.

So - my question is-
How do I get my own icon to show in a folder against my executable ( replacing the fox).

Thanks
Eric

Mike,

Thanks for that. I finally found the Image Edit on disk 3 of VS.

My icons produced by an icon program of supposedly the right size 16 X 16 cause error messages.

Using the Edit app I made a quick icon and now it attaches to the exe.

Some things are not straight forward - you might like to add a caveat to the above on your wonderful web page.

Thanks

Eris

Eric,

For some reason, Microsoft dropped Image Edit after VFP 3.0. But I assumed other icon editors have the same ability to store mutliple sizes.

you might like to add a caveat to the above on your wonderful web page

Thanks. Yes, I'll do that.

Mike

I'm still having a problem with Image Edit app. Amongst other things

You say:

Select Edit / New Image. Choose the target size, and select the "Stretch/shrink clipboard image" option. The design surface will be cleared.

I don't see "Stretch/shrink clipboard image" anywhere before or after Edit / New Image - can you please point me to it.

Having got one test icon attached to an exe I am keen to progress further to the real job.

Thanks

Eric

Sorry - I have now found the option.

Eric

Eric,

I have now found the option.

That's good. I don't have ImageEdit any more, and would have had to dig out my VFP 3.0 CD in order to install it.

Some time, I'm going to review some of the more recent icon editors, and choose one for my own use. When I do, I'll let you know which one I decide on.

Mike

Hi!

The icon editor I have settled with is "IconWorkshop" by Axialis Software. It costs $34.95 and does everything! It is even a really nice looking app too!

It is probably a bit OTT for most things, but at the price you can't really grumble :)

Neil

I like work. It fascinates me. I can sit and look at it for hours...

Neil,

I recall one of your colleagues showing me IconWorkshop. I made a note of the details (which I've still got), but never got round to downloading the demo.

Maybe next week ....

Mike

Hi Mike!

You mean my colleagues actually listen to what I tell them sometimes? Wonders will never cease :)

Axialis have done an upgrade to cope with Windows Vista icons by the looks of things, but I haven't looked at that bit yet!

Neil

PS You had much snow up there?

Neil,

I'll let you know how I get on with it.

You had much snow up there?

Unfortunately, not. We had a bit last weekend, so I oiled my walking boots and headed for the hills, but by the time I got there everything was green again.
