Very unusual Norstar problem.

Our customer was recently upgraded to a MICS with 6.1.

When a call comes into the system it is answered by the receptionist and then transferred to an extension. When the receptionist is on a call and a second call rings in she is unable to transfer the call when the second incoming call is ringing.

She either has to wait to do it between the ring cycles or put the current call on hold and then come back to it after puting the second call on hold.

This seems to happen only during peak hours when most of the lines are being used.
 
Try giving the receptionist extension more intercom buttons.
 
If the receptionist does not have an autodial button then what can happen is that the softkey button under the display can be preempted by the ring and not actually be a transfer button. try having her try a feature 7 0 to make a transfer when a line is ringing. if she can do this you may just need to set up an autodial button to be a transfer.

as posted above if you are getting the second call in on the intercom button it will interfere with transfers so addition of an additional intercom button or two could also help.

I've always liked the call queing feature f801 it answers the oldest ringing call.
Good for busy operators :)
To program:
press Feature*3
press key
press feature*801

Crank up the intercom keys and program a transfer key like jerry said.
To program:
press Feature*3
press key
press feature*70

more intercom buttons and programming transfer as a separate button (instead of the context sensitive softkeys)
will solve hte problems
