I'm new in using terminal server 2003 and for some reason after someone changed the size of virtual memory cause we keep getting low virtual memory error, then I also did a critical updates the next day and now it takes about 5 minutes to login using thin client or remote connection. It hangs on gray screen during login but I can speed up the login to normal speed by pressing CTRL, ALT DEL or by rebooting the server everytime. I really appreciate any help?

Thanks!

How much ram memory do you have? Terminal server lives for memory.

I would back out the patches, then apply them one at a time to see which patch causes the problem.

I have about 2GB, Isn't that enough for 50 users that's mostly runs As400 and Lotus notes? Though, I will try removing those patches one by one and see what happens.

Thanks!

Two Gigs should be enough, though I have not used Notes/As400 in years.

What was/is the virtual memory setting?

Do you have Norton CE running?

Looks like adjusting the virtual memory to 2000 and max 43000 solved that slow login issue but now I noticed that lotus notes email hangs 1 out 10 while opening email. Though I'm happy for now and will monitor lotus notes if anyone starts reporting any problem.

Why not raise it to 50000, see what happens.

Any possibility of getting more ram ? If you had virtual memory problems, the machine is calling for more.

At the link above, there is a user Christa Anderson, who writes books on TS, she could advise on the ram, post in the Terminal server forum.
