I have pc's on a server 2003 domain and when my clients log on to windows it takes for ever for the log in process to complete and the desktop to come up. I had a friend who said it could be something to do with the DNS but I am not sure on this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

your friend sounds to be spot on. can you detail your dns settings?

Make sure the DNS is specified on the clients machine. I have a Windows 2003 test server setup, and I was having like 4 to 5 minute delays on logins (with roaming profiles set). Managed to fix it by making sure the client machines were pointing to the appropriate DNS Server.

i had to leave right after i posted this, i will check the dns as soon as i can. i appreciate the help so far

I have the same problem with very slow login times but the clients already have their DNS pointing to the servers ip address. Here is the full situation:

Fresh install of the server OS as we had a hard drive crash and the raid mirroring failed. Used the same domain name, ie internal.ls

Server - Win 2003 Server Stn SP2, GPMC with SP1, SP2 Administration Tools Pack. DNS and DHCP installed and configured.
Clients - WinXP Pro SP2 (desktops and laptops)

Problems: I tried to configured DNS and DHCP as they were last time I diod it but maybe I've got something wrong as are not working correctly. DNS and DHCP service says it is started. Below is the servers log from ipconfig /all
