There is a wait of up to 1 minute, logging into a WIndow 2000 domain from a client running XP and the Netware Client32 v 4.9

When I remove the Netware client and just use the MS client, the problem disappears. So it must be the Netware client32, or some setting therein.

Has anyone else seen this and found a resolution ?

Not sure how to get there in XP, but in 2000 (should be similar) when you open up the "Network and Dial-up Connections windows, click "Advanced" - "Advanced settings" and chose the "Provider Order" tab, make Microsoft the first under "Network Providers".

I had the same problem. It depends on how many servers your'e loggin into.

I don't load the Client 32 program instead I use the microsoft client. and write the default location into the registery so anyone else logging in wouldn't get the "enter the default tree and context authentication box".

Also look at your dns server. what is the DNS search order?
the server should be first. check the gateway and IP settings.

That's it.

Can I use the Microsoft Client and IP as my protocol ? That's why I have been using the Netware Client32 - no more IPX here.

Yep. Just remove the IPX settings from the local area connection properties.
