Hi,

I have Subnet A:
172.16.1.0/255.255.255.0 with all servers and many XP clients. All working very well.

and I have a new Subnet B:
172.16.2.0/255.255.255.0

Layer 3 switch is connecting the two subnets.

I moved one clinet from subnet A to subnet B.
When I try to logon, I have to wait about 10-15 minutes
to be logged on. I can ping the domain controllers,
and see the sysvol,netlogon shares.

In eventlog, I see this errors:

1054: Windows cannot obtain the domain controller name....
1030: Windows cannot query for the list of GPO......
1058: Windows cannot access the file gpt.ini.......

I dont´t have a firewall between the subnets.

Do you have a hint for me?

thanks,
mewi

Can you access your DNS servers from subnet B? Also you could check if your DNS settings are correct on the client.

Is it possible that the layer 3 switch is filtering broadcasts?

Hi,

Yes, the switch is filteting broadcasts (layer3)
Do we need broadcasts?

DNS settings are ok.
