I know that the switches are NOT cisco, but any help would be appreciated! :)

I have a client that is having issues with latency on the network. When copying files from one server to a users desktop, the process could take up to 12-20 minutes, depending on the file size, to copy. He is running Windows 2000 on the desktop, Windows w/ AD, a single domain, integrated DNS on the AD server, SP4, latest updates on the desktops. Running Symantec CE. However, here are some points of concern:
1- Allows users to have Kazaa installed on there workstations.
2- The Developers have the rights to disable the antvirus program.
3- They have a mixture of switches on the network. Extreme Alpine 3808(4-32 Port 10/100 modules); HP ProCurve 8000M, 3Com SupperStack II 500, 3Com Superstack II Baseline, 3Com SuperStack II 3300XM, (2)Netgear FS750, Intel Express 410T.
He is also running Cisco PIX 515E for the Firewall, and the router is a Cisco 2621.

My thoughts are that because of the many switch types, there is a configuration issue between them.

I'd check our duplex and speed, make sure they're the same on both sides of the link, even for servers and desktops..
especially the switch uplinks.

We have, and they are set to 100. None of the ports that I looked at were set to either 10/100, or autosensing, and they were all at Full-Duplex. I will check the uplink between the various switches, but believe that it is correct.

Anything else that someone, or yourelf can suggest to check??

Also check the NIC settings on the PC's... If the PC is set to auto and the switch is set to 100, then there will be problems. Both ends have to match exactly.
