Hi all,

I have a server with Active Directory with 2 60Gig in mirror. My two drive just crashed on me 2 hours ago. I did not have a backup AD yet on my network. I know I was running after problems. So many thing to do so little time.

I also have an exchange server on my network. If I need to rebuild my AD, how can I make my exchange reconnect to the AD without loosing to much.

Right now, I am trying to recover my disk but the registry hive is corrupted.

Any insight is appreciated.

Simon

If you don't have any backups then a full instalation will probably be the only way. You will then have to do a dcpromo and recreate the domain, you'll then have to re-create the user accounts and then re-install exchange.

Unless you can fix the hive I can see no other way.

WebFuture,

I just had the same thing happen to me. I had a full backup but had problems getting it restored. I had to reload the dc from scratch.

hence why it's so important to practise restores. Backup ain't very reliable but if you know the pit falls you can be successful with it.
