We are looking at switching to Verizon as our prime Nortel Vendor.

Does anyone else use Verizon for there Nortel prime?
They would be supporting multiple CS1000E, and CCM installs?

Please let me know of your experiences with Verizon.

Most concerned about there support.

We had 2 Verizon on site techs for multiple 81's and 11s for both. Never had a problem with the on site guys.

On weekends when the Verizon on call tech was called they never got it right. They would show up at the wrong location, they would call out alarms that werent really alarms (1 pri down when we have 10-30 in each location) and missed INI's and other service affecting issues.

Had Verizon at a site they never did PMs on the switch for 5 years. Then the dep list was 3 years old before I took over and fired them.

I tell you who I use now. Presidio Network solutions. They are cheaper and their techs are awesome

Thanks for the feedback John, and Matthew.

We are kind of in a rural area so I am very concerned with the type of techs that big V may send out. I have heard both good and bad about their field techs.

We handle our own day to day stuff, routing, programing, etc. I just want to make sure the Big V will be there, if there is system issue. We are going to the just released Nortel CC7 app suite. Running an app suite that is only been open to the general public for a month makes me a little nervous.

Are either of your shops Nortel based?

Ok, don’t know what I was thinking in asking last question.
What I really want to know is Nortel your only system for your phones or if it is a mix with other venders, such as Avaya, Shortel, etc.

I need more coffee this morning.

I have a mix of Nortel and Cisco. In my call centers I use Nortel. The Contact Center and the nortel PBXs are rock solid. That is why the military uses them as does the majority of the US Gov.

Within the next 3 months, we will have a 100% Nortel shop. I have a mix of 5 Nortel sites and 9 Norstar sites. We are getting ready to deploy 9 SRGs which will all be tied back to my main CS1000E (which is literally in the middle of nowhere). My vendor is about 650 miles away, but the remote support can't be beat for the CC product. My hardware at my existing 5 locations is monitored 24/7. They also contract with Nortel techs around the area who come out to do any needed PMs.

Verizon has not been very good to us as a whole, neither has AT&T which is why we have never used the telco for equipment and support. There are several great Nortel partners you can use - you said you were rural, so the remote support and monitoring would be a great asset from any vendor you choose.

I tried to take it one day at a time, but a whole bunch of them attacked me at once!

As far as the techs they would send, its hit and miss. They might send you one of their really good techs, or you might get sent the newest greenie because its a rural area. Before signing a contract you could talk to them and find out who the techs would be. They usually have techs assigned by region.

You may also want to check with local business' and user groups like INNMUG. Verizon may be a good support company in general, but a few bad techs will soil any business name.
Also see what they have to offer when it comes to a maint contract, and how they define time to dispatch/respond, rmac etc.

It really comes down to the local site\tech. Meaning we have Verizon support contracts through out the US. In Kansas City - Verizon is great, however at other locations, they have a issues with the quality...but I guess this could be true for any VAR

Why would you ask that in a month old thread about verizon? Make your own thread and get better answers Watertown!

I agree 100% with dank3344 - in Kansas City I have heard nothing but good things - we are in Omaha and they have to send techs from Kansas City or try to get someone to sub-contract closer to us :( We should have stuck with our previous vendor.
