Good morning all.
I have a Windows 2000 server, Veritas BE 9, and a small Dell Tape Library(Powervault). When I insert and label new media in the Powervault, everything works well. However, this server is an upgrade to an older server, now when I insert media from the old server to be used by the new server, I label this "old" media within the Powervault but the "Media" tab within Veritas BE 9 displays 2 tapes of the same number. For example, I insert an old tape #000100 and label this tape as such and enter a description of 200100 within the Powervault. After this process, I go into Veritas BE 9, click the "media" tab, and find 2 tapes with the number of 000100: 1 with my description of 200100 and 1 without. This does not seem to be a problem until I try to delete the incorrect tape. I can not seem to find a way to delete or remove the duplicated tape number not to mention that I am curious as to why this software insists on doing this bizarre action. Thanks in advance for any help.
