Hello,

I am currently running veritas backup exec 9 on a windows 2000 server. Does anyone know if there is a way to setup an automatic taped erase function prior to the backup starting each nite?

Thanks a lot

HI.

My suggestion is that you configure the overwrite protection settings, instead of erasing the tape using a scheduled command,
which could be a problem for example if the erase task succeeds but the backup operation does not start for some reason.

You can configure the Media Set for overwrite protection period, and/or you can configure the overwrite protection from the menu: Tools - Options - Media Management.

I suggest reading the BE documentation and help to understand the impacts of each setting.

Bye

I just began working with the Desktop and Laptop Option on 9.1. When creating a profile, I need to save not only the My Documents folder for each user, but would like to also save the cookies, favorites, and desktop for the user as well.
I can make it work with
c:\documents and settings\dannys\cookies
just fine. When I try using %USERNAME% in place of dannys it doesn't work. Certainly I don't need to create a separate profile for each user; that would be crazy.
I've racked my brain and searched all over. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
