veritas backup exec 9.0 error code a000fe30 hex 2

Anyone know what this error code is all about?
 
I desperately need assistance with this issue as well. The remote server is a redhat 9.0 server. We have others that have worked fine but for some reason this one is not. We have tried everything to get this backup to work but it simply will not. Any ideas anyone?

what version of backup Exec do you have?

9.1 is the only version that has been specifically tested and has been working with Redhat 9.0 - maybe give this a go.

Other things to look for are to hard set the speed and duplex of the NIC card and switch.

Are you using the UNIX agent as well on this server?
 
We are running Veritas 9.0 so it may help to upgrade. We do have a unix agent on the server. I am going to go ahead and try the upgrade and I will keep you posted on the results. :-D

I have the same problem and can't find anything on this topic except for the knowledge base article on the veritas website. Here it is indicated that it could be an exchange problem, but we're not running that on the server. I tried to install a service pack, re-installed the remote agent, tried to change the network card in the backup job, but the problem continues.

The Software version is BE 9.0 v 4454

Backup set description: "Friday backup ( Full Backup)"
Backup Type: FULL - Back Up Files - Reset Archive Bit

Job ended: Saturday, January 08, 2005 at 8:02:43 AM
Completed status: Failed
Final error code: a000fe30 HEX
Final error description: A communications failure has occurred.

Final error category: Server Errors

The connection to target system has been lost. Backup set canceled.

Anyone with ideas?

Setting the NIC speed correctly fixed the problem on our W2003 server.
