We are converting our master netbackup version5 MP6 HP-UX server to an AIX5.3 server. Also we are switching from a StorageTEK L700 to an ADIC library. The StorageTEK had 8 LTO drives and 4 LTO2 drives. THE ADIC has 8 LTO3 drives. In our tests things have gone well, we were able to transfer things over to the new server etc. We can successfully run backups and the drives have been configured and are recognized. We came across one issue. We can view previous backups however can not perform any restores from backups that were taken using LTO or LTO2. We are getting TpErrno Requested number of drives are not configured when we attempt to restore a backup that was previous taken in the StorageTEK using LTO or LTO2. Just wondering how if possible we can get Veritas to use the LTO or LTO2 in the LTO3 drive for restores(if there was a setting somewhere) or do we need to keep a few LTO and LTO2 drives onsite. Any help would be great. Thanks.

What was the Media Type of the LTO & LTO2 media? The media type needs to match the Drive Type.

Hi cdpwin12,

Just want to make sure I understand your question. We used LTO 100/200GB tapes in the LTO drives. Is that what you were asking?

I bet the tapes that have images on them are hcart2... Yet the new drives are hcart3....

Try and change the tape type on the previously used tapes from hcart2 to hcart3

vmchange -new_mt hcart3 -m <volser>

This works for me in a dr situation. But I don't restore the whole environment. Just the Image dir..

This might help:

SMICRO-

Please call me or email me!

We are also migrating from 5.1 mp6 on HP/UX to Aix 5.3 soon-

I'd like to talk, if possible about the methods you used to accomplish this migration.
