Veritas 9.0 Unable to attach to one of the drives

I keep getting this message during the backup...

Unable to attach to one of the drives

...of course...it is the main data drive for the users...it is a remote selection in my backup job...the RANT has been installed on the server and I am able to backup the C drive and System State with no problem...

I have verified the ports used to communicate and they seem ok...I have also attempted a backup job with just the drive by itself...if fails also...verified the logon credentials for the resource(administrator of the domain)...

Any one have any suggestions????

Couple of questions....
1. Has this ever worked?
2. Have u upgraded anything on either of the systems lately including BE?
3. When u say drive do u mean that it resides on a different server than the one to which the tape drive is connected to?

Hi

Have you tried using the UNC path to the server. This works well as the name resolution has not got to be done as it works on pure IP.
