Verify of backup taking ages

When you do a restore, does it take ages to do as well?
Sometimes the issues with slow verifies are because of hardware issues.

I had an issue backing up mailboxes when I upgraded to 9.1. It took about 25 hours to back up a similar amount of data, but verified it in 2.5. The opposite of your situation!
The solution for me was to disable the Anti-virus service on the Exchange server while the backup was running and restart it afterwards. I don't know if this is relevant to your situation but it may be worth looking into.
