Vector Announcement Configuration

Good morning Everyone,

We are going through a large core conversion at our company and need to make modifications to the CM for a special cut over weekend but need assistance on how to change a specific function in a Vector. Normally the vector accepts input from the callers in the form of digits. They are usually able to skip the menu announcement by submitting the digits but we would like for them to be REQUIRED to listen to the WHOLE announcement before they are able to input any digits. Is this possible? We are administering the CM through the site administration GUI. Thanks in advance!

You could break up the announcement and put the mandatory part as it's own step (announcement x) followed by collect digits step with an announcement telling to caller to enter digits.

instead of:

01 collect 1 digit after annc 1234

use:
01 annc 1234
02 collect 1 digit after annc none

Best to change your announcement also to make sure it states "Please wait until all options have been presented before making your selection" otherwise people will complain that somethings broken when they keep jamming the 2 and it doesn't work until after the announcement.

If callers are used to just pressing the digits when the announcement starts, they may hit digits when you are playing the non-bargeable announcement and that digit press can sometimes carry over to the collect step.

As suggested, I would create an announcement that plays the part that you don't want them to bypass, then an announcement with the options. Play the first announcement in a step that is:

announcement XXXX

After playing the announcement and before the collect step you want to "clear" any entry that they may have already tried to make.

I believe the line you want to enter is:

collect ced for none

This collects any digits that "bleed" over from the user pressing digits during the announcement.

Then put the collect step with the options:

collect X digits after announcement XXXX
