Hi Tecktips members

Today I was installing a brand new IP office 500 v2 (8.0) system with a VCM 32 card attached with a T1/PRI daughter card. First time I turn on the system it showed me the following error in the system status "Installed hardware is not valid on this platform VCM, slot 1" then when I try to get the standard version of the software it tells me the following error "No essential edition or Upgrade present" after research a lot on internet I found something related with that from version 8.0 you need to have a essential license. but what is the problem with the VCN card? It's my first time working with 8.0 version. Thank you all!

new VCM card means the brand new V2 that just came out?

from Tech Bulletin that came with R8.1

Using VCM32v2 and VCM64v2 with R8.0 or earlier.
• A future service pack will be required for the SW to recognize the v2 versions
of the card

Sorry for your luck but you need to use R8.1 to make it work

Westi,

I already check the box and its not a VCM32v2 it says just VCM 32. The sd card of the system is 8.0. About the software I downloaded the last version available in avaya website that is this one

Or do we have to pay for it? I really don't understand why is not working if it's not a VCM32v2.

Thank you

A VCM32 of only supported in ipoffice mode.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Thanks both,

Problem solved! We called our provider asking for the essential license.

if you start a system from 8.0 SD card version and want to modify and work as an standard mode, you MUST have an essential license. After I add the essential license and make a full restart, the VCM card was recognized perfectly that's because you can not work with VCM cards in basic mode. So everything is fine! thank you all!

Next time just buy the upgrade licence (even if new), reason being it gives you the essential licence anyway, it's cheaper by nearly half and allows you to use user profile licences without preferred edition (something you can't do now), so all in all much better value for money :)
