How many people have come across situations where the vcm is the cause of various problems in the system.
Static on a conference call, unit not booting correctly etc...

I have not seen this. However I am seeing some faulty 403's that the conference chip seems to be stuffed.

Example. People are on external calls on the switch. Somebody creates a conference call and can hear all of the other partys external calls as well as there conference call. Does this with a blank config and 2.0(1602) and 1.4(27) installed after reloading the firmware and a AT-X reload.

Are you getting any errors on the VCM when you do a DTE trace of the unit when it boots up ???

We were having horrible static on conference calls. I have a 412 in my main office. A satellite office across the street connects with a 403. The 403 does not have static. Dual PRI module not culprit because one to calls are okay.
VCM's are unlikely suspects, as satellite office uses the 412's dual PRI module and the VCM. We have gone through 4 different 412's in the last month. Today appears better but am still getting intermittent conference static. It's almost as if conference chip is triggered by load...busiest times of the day. We perform numerous "small" conferences...20 conferences with 3-5 people in each at any given time. Needless to say, this has been the worst system purchase ever. The static is unbearable.

I would be asking your reseller to check with AVAYA the Serial number of your 412 to see what batch it came from.

I would also suggest as usual !! to make sure you are running 2.1(27)

Cheers
