Hi All,

GOt a customer with a 412 running 5.0.15 software with a VCM 30 installed, couple of weeks ago VCM card went faulty so got a replacement but when installed prevented 412 from booting.got a second one thinking first was faulty but same again even when installed in our test kit which is running same version and config as the customer. My question is does anyone know if there are compatabilty issues with certain VCM cards(PCS levels) and the 412 as same fault on 3 boxes seems unlikley

Have you run monitor and seen what errors it throws out??


In this scenario that youre test kit that i take you have put on the same software level and blown youre customers config in, has
The card that stopped youre customers kit from booting does it stop youre dem kit from booting also?

If it does boot youre dem kit up in default with the vcm installed and see if it loads ok , then upgrade to 5.026 in fact do that anyway.

I would of thought this is a problem with the ipo config rather than the VCM cards but default boot ups with a monitor trace running will point you in the right direction , If all that fails DTE the sucker and programme from scratch (dem kit that is if it fails to boot)


Keep us posted sorry i cant answer your question about PCS levels but if you take the box upto the latest level ,, check the releasec notes for that level , and the one it is on and see if they mention anything regarding pcs levels on VCM30....hope that helps

Are these old Alchemy VCM cards?
they do not work from V4 onwards.

You are I think correct - IIRC the alchemy cards where in bunches of 5s and the IPO cards were 4's (for the echo canceller)

HSM I Thought that R$ dropped all support for Achemy hardware
(although I could never see any difference in the VCM's to be honest)

On a 412 that is, not a 500 - perhaps its not supported, but it works ;-)
