Hey all,

I have a question about IP address and scripts. Where I work we have 3 sets of IP schemes (open, restricted and blocked). What I want to know is if there’s a way to set up a script that can assign a specific IP address to a specific user and change with every user who logs in after. For example say I log on to a reception computer and my IP address is a open IP address 10.37.224.1 and i leave to go to lunch and the person who comes after me has a blocked IP address assigned to him/her 10.37.255.1. Is it possible for the script to change the IP address with every user?

dbustamante = 10.37.224.1
jdoe = 10.37.255.1
jsmith = 10.37.254.1

Hey thanks for link I’ll see about changing it up some. currently the way it's set up they can log on to as many PCs as they want but in doing this i want to eliminate have 1 person logged in to 3 different machines.

Have you looked at what MS offers for limiting users to one session?

As for blocking their Internet access, there is a simple trick for that.

Assign a logon script for that user that sets a fake proxy server in IE. The user won't be able to change it since it is set via GPO. That will allow them to browse intranet sites like SharePoint but not allow them to access Internet sites.

I hope that helps.

Mark

Hey that does look like its going to be pretty usefull also! I might just have to download that and give it a try as well but as far as the internet access we have IP assigned by our corporate office that allow internet restrict access and block access so the script would have to be ip's assigned to people not local machines.

If locking down solely by IP then why not lock down login to specific computers as well?

I hope that helps.

Mark

i've thought about doing that but we have to many users who have multiple duties and by locking them down to one computer they wouldn’t be able to move to the different locations.
