Hello everybody,
I have a .bat logon script. It has several rutines, one of which calls a vbscript that supposed to set up an Internet Explorer proxy. This vbscript runs, but doesn't set up proxy.
But when I ran it afterwords - through the same login script, or by itself (from the same netlogon share), it works.
I can't figure out why it's happening and how I can fix it.

Thank you,

Claire

Try it in a GPO. GPOs offer the option for "Always Run Elevated"

I hope you find this post helpful.

I was trying to avoid the GPO option as long as I could. ;)

I just added it to an existing STUDENTS GPO, and removed it from ADUC login script option. The script runs twice! I put a MSGBOX at the beginning of the script, and it pops up twice. !!???!! Any ideas why, or what to check?

I cannot find where to set it so the logon script runs with elevated privileges. I found Always Install With Elevated Privileges, but that applies to ALL Installs. Someone somewhere said to run it on the Computer Startup Script, as that WILL run elevated. Really?

I appreciate the help - it's frustrating!

Use gpresult to determine what policies are being applied to find out why it is runnign twice. Refer to my login script FAQ for notes on implementing via GPO.

You found the setting I was referring to. Unless you add additional software to the policy, I don't understand your concern.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Mark

Forget the logon script running twice question - it's a function of loopback processing - not quite sure how to fix that, but that's another issue. Assuming I can, how to delete these MS-provided printers?

It's starting to be "time to think of hacks", e.g., if deleting printer, check to see if it's Image Writer and ignore the error, but just make sure the default is correct. I hate working like that (it's giving up), but we can't spend forever on such a relatively small item!!!

Sorry, your message slipped in in between mine!

The description for that option, Always Install With Elevated Privileges, says it "extends elevated privileges to all programs", not just software on this policy. Am I missing something? (Always a good possibility!)

Check the permissions and see what you can do to change them. I have no other suggestions at this time.

I hope you find this post helpful.
