Hi,

If I create a macro using VBA for Word 2000, would I be able to tranfer the code to a computer running other versions without doing a little modification?

with the introduction of VB.NET and office 2007, is what I (will) learn about VBA for Word 2000 really worth the time spent?

Hi,

"...tranfer the code ..."

You transfer the DOCUMENT that contains the code. It is Visual Basic for Applications

A bit different than VB or VB Net, where you compile an executable.

Of course it depends on what use you may make of it, but Yes.

There are differences between 2000 and 2007 but not enormous ones in VBA itself. What you learn in 2000 will still be useful in 2007.

If you intend programming in VB.NET, perhaps that would be a better place to start learning, but what you can learn in VBA would not be entirely wasted even then

Enjoy,
Tony

I am completely with Tony on this, and would give an unqualified YES, it is worth it.

You will learn concepts that will still be applicable, plus (hopefully) develop good practices etc. etc.

Yes.

Thanks, guys

I think I would go ahead and start learning VBA now.

Thanks.
