VB6: How do I determine if a user is in an AD group?

I've been trying to figure out how to determine if the logged in user is in an Active Directory group (Windows 2000). I've been reading the online MSDN, but it hasn't been very helpful. I don't know what attributes to use, and I don't even know where to find the pre-defined AD attributes.

HELP!

In DoctorWho's defense, I've looked for hours for things on google and had someone find what I'm looking for in a couple of minutes. BJ, what was the string you used in google to find those links?

Its actually been a long time since I have found these links on google... I pulled them from a book mark. I know I found the main site from google and then branched out from there. The basis of my comment is that I have done a lot of Active Directory coding and have pretty much (with few exceptions) learned it all from using google. I have never spent a significant amount of time looking for any information on using Active directory with VB/VBScript.

My comment was not meant to offend you (or DoctorWho) but to make the point that it is readily available... you may have to piece a few sites together at first and modify your search based on the results you got the first time...

Bj, I only asked because I was curious (I haven't done a lot of Active Directory coding), not because I wanted to back up my point. Sorry if that wasn't clear. Furthermore, if you've had good luck with google on this subject over time, then perhaps you're the one that has a point.

I suppose that the lesson to be learnt is that it is oftern worth while not assuming they havent searched google, and that it can be worth just helping someone use google to its full potential.

I must admit i have helped people at work, and on a IT course at college (even tutors) find things they couldnt find. I am not that great at searching - but am ok. Perhaps it may be worth an FAQ (if there isnt one already) of the best techniques to search google (anyone a searching master).
