Hi Everyone,

I have the following problem occurring on some of the Windows 2000 machines. The machines have VB5 Enterprise with SP3 and Windwos 2000. When calling DAO.Workspace.OpenConnection, VB5 IDE generates a memory access error and crashes. But I also saw VB5 works on another Windows 2000 machine. Microsoft support site doesn't have further advise on this one. And I also posted the question on Microsoft newsgroup last week but seems no one out there is responding. Hopefully from this board I could be luckier.

Thanks in advance!

Have you tried reinstalling your visual basic enterprize edition?...sometimes files can get corrupt and cause compilation problems, etc...save all your stuff and try this...

If that doesn't help, it's your machine or your installation of windows...doesn't happen often, but it does happen...

Also, what about database software on those machines?...try to pinpoint a difference in machine configurations, and perhaps software setups...

Just some things you have to look carefully at... Regards,

I have tried to follow these obvious steps already but no luck. But thanks for the reply!

On the two troubled machines, these are machines that have been setup recently so they are relatively clean compared to the working machine, which has been running for a while and has lots of other application on it. So it is hard to pingpoint the exact relevant difference. But that seems to be a common problem since it could be easily reproduced on 2 separate machines. I wonder why it is not mentioned on MSFT site.
