Along the lines of Visual Basic 60. vs VBA.

What are everyones opinions on VB vs C# in the .NET world. I am going to sign up for a program this fall in night school. I have to decide first on which route to take. VB or C#

I am already a VB6 guru? so is it better to learn C# now? or stay with VB because I already know it? The other side I ahve heard is if you know C++ then go with VB or if you know VB go with C#, that way you won't get mixed up when switching between IDE's.

I have decided to go C#. I still have to work day to day in VB so I would rather keep my learning seperate from my work. So that I don't try .NET commands in VB.

Thanks all for all your helpfull posts. I'm going to try and learn C# .NET on my own, then buy the review books to study for my MCAD. If I fail miserably I may take a course, but if I can save a few thousand and still get the job done it's well worth the study.

What are your thoughts about C#?
If one was to start would you start out with VB or what?

Thanks, John

toolmantwo,

My post was more along the lines of certifications and preparatory courses. If CasperTFG wants to get certified, there is a forum that can help him in that goal more than this thread alone.

C# and VB .Net is not what I am doing on everyday basis, so I don't have a definite opinion about them (and even if I had, it wouldn't weigh as much as opinions of insiders, so I would be hesitant to offer it).

Thanks Stella740pl

Is there any way we can contact another member in this Tek-Tips forum?

If so, I can post my email address if that is one option.

Have a productive day, John
