Okay, I am new to linux. I have invested about 6 months into learning VB6 and SQL. I am now starting to get a crush on the penguin:) I know there are some emulators that allow SOME windows apps to run. Things like WINE I think. My question is that if I make a program will it allow an install and running of the program through emulation? Or will it puke it out since linux doesnt have the API, registry and the runtime, or control files? I have a feeling that the answer will be no, but since I am a programmer I have that geeky curiosity:)

Thanks guys and gals.

you are right... the answer is no. One problem is VB 6 is all compiled through a DLL.

yeah. it needs the run time installed.. we have tried what u are wanting to do with no success at all.

cheers.

Yes its possible to utilise your VB and SQL learning on Linux.
Apparantly no emulator needed.

Search on Google for Envelop and Pheonix.
VB lookalike in Windows not sure what it looks like in Linux.

The files to specifically search for are
"phoenix-1.5-6.i386.rpm" and
"phoenix-doc-1.5-6.i386.rpm"

Fancy a VB programmer not being aware of this.
jcisco should be ashamed of himself.

If you fancy yourself a penguin lover then free youself from the dark side and join those that know the true power of the C.
