As an occasional VB user I am confused as to the different versions that are currently available.

Is the 2005 Express version the only 2005 version that is available stand-alone? Do you need to get the whole of Visual Studio 2005 to get any more advanced versions? Is the a feature comparison on the web anywhere?

Thanks

Google loves you Might want to try the first hit

Google only loves you if you type in the right thing ) I had looked but never got to this page.
That's good. But it looks like I would need to purchase the whole of Visual Studio (with many components I don't need). Is VB.NET still available as a separate range of products?

TIA

Only the express editions to my knowledge

I'm lasy and didn't want to go through the visual studio site, but:
Is the section you might like to read.

vs2005 has followed with previous versions, you have individual languages (express) and full visual studio with all and everything.

There are more versions but these are for development companies.

If you are just programming for a hobby then express versions are more cost effective, but if you are wanting to sell/market your creations then i would go with the full version. Even though it gives you languages that you would never use, its extra components allow you to (for example) build multi applications with dll's... I don't know if express includes it (desktop edition?), but the full version comes with sql server 200#.

Thanks all, I think that just about does it!
