Does anyone have an experience with the vault package for veritas. We are thinking of purchasing but wanted to get opinions. Does it allow you to send tapes offsite based on calender date? For example some of our companies monthend date is the middle of the month and alternate each month, one month the 21st next month 15th etc. Could we input these dates ahead of time or is the offsiting just based on how many days ago the backup started? Thanks.

One of the options with vault is choosing what backups meet the criteria for the eject. Within the vault profile you can specify what policy, schedule, volume pool, volume group, media server, client, retention level etc... So if the month end backup has a unique retention level, policy, or schedule therefore you can setup the profile to go back 20 or 30 days and if you know that backup in question is unique to those requirements it will be the only backup that is ejected for that profile. You can create multiple profiles within a single Vault and the profile can be started manually or can be scheduled via a corresponding vault policy. Hope this helps!
