Every time I try and look at the properties in a VFP 9.0 Report I get the error message "Variable "VPOS" is not found, I have tried un-installing and re-installing, but to no avail.

Any ideas ??

Many Thanks

What do you mean by "look at the properties" in this context? Can you give us step-by-step instructions to see the problem.

If I double lcick on a control on in the Report writer, so that I can for example set the control source, thats when the message appears.

How ever, since writing my first post, I have discovered that this only occurs under my logon. If I logon under the Admin account, all is ok.

I beleive that the problem is profile based. I am going to create a new profile for myself today, and try again, I will post the results.

Hi,

I think VPOS is a field in a report table (frx file). So the error is misleading. And it's misleading twice, as the error does not occur because that field is missing. Must be something else/weird. As you found out yourself, with admininstrative rights the proble is gone.

It's not a profile issue, it's a rights problem. Because the reportbuilder.app is located in the vfp home() dir, which is normally within the ProgramFiles directory, for which a normal user has not all access rights.

So the problem disappears, if you either allow your account in this folder or copy the reportbuilder.app to another folder you have full access and reconfigure VFP. See menu->options->file locations and look out for Reportbuilder.

But my recommendation is to give your other account more rights in the vfp home() dir, as a non default installation is mostly causing trouble sooner or later, so moving reportbuilder.app is plan b.

For the same reasons you have trouble with the resource file foxuser.dbf and other tables, so the easiest thing is to grant full access to the vfp home folder and subfolders.

Bye, Olaf.

Go to Tools->Options and select the File Locations Tab and remove the content of Report Builder...It works for me...
Hope it helps!

Hi,
I have not had a chnace to investigate this problem any more yet. I have been running VFP under a different account, with no issues.

I will try your suggestion at the week end though.

Many thanks
