Good morning all,

I've got a vantage phone that we lent out as a demo that I am trying to factory reset, however the admin password that I have on my system is not working to reset. (this is via the system>reset options>admin login.)

I have tried to reset it via the bootloader (volume up while rebooting) however there is no way to actually enter the craft password that it is asking for, the only way to control the bootloader screen is with the volume up/down and long press the up/down keys.

Does anyone have any ideas? I feel like I'm missing something pretty easy, either that or it is lacking some basic functionality.

The factory reset via boot loader needs a USB keyboard attached to the phone.

Never had to do that.

We usually just change the file server address to point at our local IP Office which contains a SET_ADMINPSWD=******** NoUser source number (that puts SET ADMIN_PASSWORD ********** into the systems auto-generated 46xxsettings files.

There is also a route where you enter the wrong password something like 6 times. After about the 4th its warns you it will reset the phone is you continue entering wrong passwords, but since that's what you want, you continue entering wrong password.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

Well, they sure do make this is easy!

I've spent the last 30 minutes trying to find a USB-C -> USB dongle, or a female USB/Female USB.. and no luck. Also, entering the wrong password 10 times did give me the option for a reset, and changing the file server did not appear to pull the password that my other vantage phones are using.

I think I'll order up a USB adapter and give that a whirl when it comes in.

Thanks for the advice though!

Just a quick update.

The only usb input on the vantage phone is usb-c. I purchased a usb female to female extender to connect a keyboard with a usb-c cable, into the usb-c on the side of the phone, but this does not work. The keyboard does not indicate any sort of power, and the buttons do nothing.

I've tried to enter the admin password incorrectly numerous times and am never prompted with a hard reset. After this failed, I tried to change the file server to my local IPO. Now I can't even get back to the settings option to change the fileserver or see any other options. The gear in the menu takes me back to the login screen, and the gear at the bottom of the screen does nothing.

I believe the company we demo'd these phones too, really locked them down for testing. Any other pointers would be greatly appreciated.

My update as I had to do it yesterday. Used a standard USB-A keyboard with a USB-C connvertor. This has to be connected before the phone is powered up.

1. Connect an external USB keyboard to the Vantage phone.
2. Reapply power to the phone whilst holding down the Volume Up button.
3. The phone recovery menus are displayed.
4. Select BRM (Boot Recovery Menu).
5. Enter the administrator password.
6. Select Clear phone.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

Thanks! It must be either my keyboard, usb-c cable, or adapter that is causing the issue as I can't get the keyboard to be recognized....

Although it may be possible that they locked down the port too, I'm not all that familiar with these vantage devices.
