almost missed... as in not hitting the other car?

HTH,

I love figuring out weird vanity plates, but I really love the ones you don't have to think about at all.... Here are two of my favorites.

One plate, where the state name was part of the message:
CALIFORNIA
DREMIN

And my all-time favorite, a shiny, expensive Mercedes in Illinois, with a high-maintenance brunette behind the wheel:
WUZ HIZ

"almost missed" would be a hit.
By the same logic: you don't want to be in a "near miss" (airline industry terminology) because 'near miss' is a crash. "Near crash" is a 'miss' and that's what you want.

Have fun.

Hmmm...Maybe not. If you were to say, "nearly missed" then that would be a crash. A near miss is different than say, "a miss by a mile" or a far miss. That "-ly" suffix does make a difference. By the same reasoning "nearly crashed" is a "miss" but I'm not sure what to make of a "near crash." Maybe we should start another thread for this?

A near miss in airline industry terminology means that two aircraft came near (inside aircraft separation minimums) but thankfully, did miss each other. There was no crash, but somebody screwed up and there is an investigation as to why they came too close and who, if anyone, is responsible.

With respect to the vanity plate, what I nearly missed was the meaning of the vanity plate.

All the programmers, say it with me, "That's not a bug, that's a feature!" or "It's a bug mislabeled as a feature"

Found here...

There's a deeper meaning?

Annihilannic.

Lime - lemon

Leads me to remember 'subpoena' and how someone described the 'complenent parts.' ;-)

I saw this on a bug over the weekend...
POP N DIE - I have no clue on the meaning, but it doesn't sound all that cheery.

I would take it as: POP the clutch anN DIE

I don't think any old bug had an automatic transmission....

Have fun.

Could it have something to do with the tool and die industry?

Light travels faster than sound. That's why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.

I saw this one last night: KYS INS. My first thought was that this was an insurance salesman. Then I thought maybe that was his and his wife's initials. Then I saw he was wearing a neck brace. Maybe his insurance paid for the car after an accident.???

I saw this one on the way back from lunch...
MRMAGOO
If I remember correctly, Mr. Magoo had problems with his eyesight...I kept my distance just in case.

I saw these this past weekend:
[tab]T00 TALL on a SUV. Yes, the driver was very tall. He has his seat back slid back as far as it would (as far as we could tell anyway) and his head still touched the ceiling of his SUV.

[tab]ENGAGE 1: I'm thinking a fan of Star Trek: TNG.

Saw a mini cooper in Austin last week (old style mini I think) With a DC numberplate no less: VROOOOMM. Not sure of the number of Os or Ms - it went by very fast.

This one took a few seconds to figure out. We were in a parking lot and parked next to a car with the plates...

I [heart] CK

We just thought it was someone's initials until we noticed the license plate frame said something about "Smallville", and there were several Superman logo decals on the rear window.

So, given all that, we're thinking...
I Love Clark Kent

Saw this one and it took a minute to figure out as I am in Ohio: BYUMOM

If I was in Utah it would be easy. Of course it might be something else.
