I have a Valcom V2001-A with one 5 watt loudspeaker attached. I have used this setup in the past on IPO with no issues. The system is IPO version 9.0.400.965 with one Combo6210/ATM4 V2 card and 10 9608G IP Phones. I configured extension 208 as a "paging speaker" I configured a button on the phones to "dial paging" extension 208. When I press the paging button, I do not get a busy signal, it gives me the the brief tone like I am used to hearing prior to making an announcement. I ruled out the 2001-A unit, since I have put my butt set on the tip/ring port and I can be heard through the loudspeaker. Any ideas would be great.

I often have to use a 600ohm resistor across the TR pair. You also have to short the second TR pair so the Valcom keeps the speaker open. The IPO does not provide dry contact closure on station ports which the Valcom expects. Did you create a shortcode for the dial paging and then assigned it to a button?

I haven't ever had to use a 600ohm resistor in my previous setups. But I will give it a try on this one. Can you send me a link to what I need to purchase? I just now setup the shortcode, I usually just go into the button programming for each extension and program a button that says dialpaging then the extension. Thanks

I use an ordinary biscuit jack with a mod plug. Get a 600-650 ohm resistor (5 pack at Radio Shack is $2.00) Screw the tails onto the red/green pair. Take a short piece of cross connect wire, strip the ends and screw those to the yellow/black pair. Now just plug the Valcom into the jack. BTW, is your battery switch off? Needs to be off if using a extension port.

Unless you have a special need for the V-2001-A Page Adapter (Music Control etc.) then you do not need it at all.

For the IP Office all you need to do is to connect the Tip and Ring of Extension 208 to the Tip (Audio) and Ring (Audio) of the Valcom Self Amplified Loudspeaker.
Then power the Loudspeaker with a small Valcom power supply.

The IP Office Analog Station Port (when used for Page) needs to be kept in an "Off Hook" condition at all times.
Preferably by an Inductive/Coupling Load like a 600 Ohm (Impedance)Transformer.
The Valcom Loud Speaker has this Transformer built into it.

Your problem right now is that you are connecting "Battery to Battery".
That is the "Talk Battery" from the IPO to the "Talk Battery" of the Valcom Page Adapter.
This is never a good condition in telecom.

Hope this helps...

Thanks, I will take out the 2001-A. I will post back my results.

I failed to ask if you were using the self amplified speaker. If so yo will need the Valcom power supply. No need for the 2001a.

I have taken the 2001-A out of the system. I have a cord running from ext 208 now to a jack. I put a jumper between between pins 3/6 and connected pins 4/5 to the Valcom speaker. I now get a busy signal when I dial my short code "Dial Paging, ext 208"

Thanks

Are you using the Valcom power supply? If you are getting busy then the IPO sees the port as off hook. The resistor makes the IPO sense on hook.
