I have an amplified Valcom about 5 horns tied into a Nortel MICS. I keep picking up two separate radio stations that are able to be hear playing on the horns at a low volume. I do not have any music or radio wired into the amp. Anyone know why I am picking up a broadcast or how to filter it out? I hae never had this problem at any other installation.

Thanks!

If the input to any amplifier is not on twisted pair or if one is a split pair or if they are of uneven length they can act like an antenna and pick up all kinds of weird stuff .
Is it on all horns or just one or two because the horns are also amplifiers.
Is there any audio on any of the pairs in cables being shared by the amp or horns that can cause induction? especially if they are unbalanced .
Look for poor grounds and ground loops.
good luck

My Metra Train station has the same problem, a faint radio station playing through a Valcom paging adapter....but it's not connected to a Nortel system. No radio station is connected either.

If you are near AM radio transmitter then you can pick up the stations. The lines to the speakers can act as antenna. You might need an RF choke in line with the speakers

Could also be telco's problem....being an in-balanced pair on one of the lines...
