I am attempting to upgrade to the FW7 for the tn2501ap board in our R11 Definity. I have connectivity to the c-lan, and can download the .bin file to it via FTP. I set up the firmware download and point it towards the VAL board. It thinks for a minute and then either aborts or fails. I printed out the list of error codes from Avaya's website, and the error I'm getting is 258 Aux. data 3, which is: Bad CRC on image file on source board

I have run this multiple times and this always fails. I have used this method in the past and it has always worked. Is there something I'm missing? The only thing that I can think of that has happened to the switch since it was known to work correctly is that last week someone decided to try and stick an Optical Drive board into a slot and it temp. shut the system down (obviously), but to my knowledge did not hurt the cabinet that I know of. Any help would be appreciated.

It is very important that you upload the firmware using the binary setting in your FTP software. Not setting it to binary corrupts the image.

Hello,

The TN2501 (VAL) board is self upgraded which means you need to put the firmware file to the VAL board not the CLAN.

Check the documentation for firmware upgrade of the TN2501..

Also note that you need to use BIN mode and download the firmware to the root directory of the board (use the command "cd /" after you connect to the board with FTP.)

I hope this helps...

Petran.

Petran is correct...upload the file directly to the val.

In the future everything will work...

Ok, thanks for the info guys. I have been using the root dir. and Binary for the FTP, I guess I forgot where I was putting the .bin file and trying to use the C-lan to dist. Maybe that's all. I'll give it a shot.
