I am using VAL over LAN manager software to back up VAL board announcements. I noticed after a list history, some entries come up as:

valmgr disa filesystem board 03C11
valmgr enab filesystem board 03C11 logi

If the board is disabled, will the anouncements still play?

Thank you

What your seeing is the telnet login and logout. Thats what it should do.

Thanks All Phoneman2

The announcements will play just fine. When you enable the filesystem on the val board, it allows the FTP connection from the VAL Manager software. I believe that is how it is doing the backups. You can actually login to the G3 and manually enable FTP with:

enable filesys board 03C11 login 'user' 'password'

This will allow you to establish an FTP session without using VAL Manager. Then just disable FTP when you are done:

disable filesys board 03C11

Hope this helps.

That's right.

I read an avaya paper that says you need to upgrade to firmware release 7 before the end of the year.

If you don't, resets of the board may occur and announcements will be lost. It's a bug they fixed in f7.

Keep that in mind!!

Thank you all for your feedback and the f7 tip.

I managed to scrounge up a VAL Manager PDF, if anyone is interested, give me your email and I will send it your way.

We just had a VAL board installed. Had no info with it, just the software.

The PDF would be very handy to read up on.
