Cannot find .wav files for my VAL announcements on TN 2501AP boards. I can play the announcements, view them via LI INTEGRATED. I can ENABLE FILEXFER for the board but when I go to view the file with WS-FTP I cannot access the board. Also when I perform LI DIRECTORY / BOARD 2b10 i get a message the directory is empty. Also my VAL MANAGER program says NO VAL BOARD DETECTED when I perform a GET VAL ANNOUNCEMENTS. Any suggestions appreciated

The .wav files are in the annc directory/folder on the board.

See original post. When I perform a LI DIRECTORY / BOARD 2B10.

list directory / board 02B10
LIST DIRECTORY

Board File/Directory Creation Size Pro-
Loc Name Date Time Kb tect

Directory is empty
Command: Directory is empty

But I see the announcements here:
list integrated-annc-boards Page 10

INTEGRATED ANNOUNCEMENTS
Board Location: 02B10 Time Remaining at 64Kbps: 1732

Internal Group Announcement Length Size
Number Number Extension Name (Sec) (Kb)
NA 19049 CSC_HOLIDAY_MSG_SPLIT40_ONL 19 154
NA 19050 CSC_HOURS_OF_OPERATION 17 132
NA 19053 CSC_LOAN_OPTIONS 12 95

There a many more but I believe this severs the purpose of showing that the announcments are there.

Kevin,
Thanks for your attention to this thread. I am on CM 6.2 and as you probably know many commands are no longer used, the
list directory board 01A03 /annc Page 1
is one of them along with enable filesystem. You must now use the enable filexfer command. I have finally figured out the issue and have been able to backup my announcements from all of my VAL Boards. Something to keep in mind when pefroming the following:

enable filexfer Page 1 of 1

ENABLE FILE TRANSFER

Secure? y
Board address:

The setting of Secure? to Y only works on VAL boards and you must set your ftp program to SFTP, and you must set Secure? N for media gateways. In some instances you may be required to set your ftp program to Use Passive mode for data connections. I can now successfully move my .wav file between TN2501AP boards and my G450 gateways vVAL sources. Thanks again for the input.

For someone who has posted only twice on this forum, you should start with reading answers posted to your questions.

The commands have not changed. Kevin and I do know how this works or we would not be trying to assist you.

Respectfully.

Would like the know where procedures are to installing Val virtual card and setting up music. I have sites that use premier unit that holds a USB thumb drive with 6 .wav files can this be done using VAL or do I need to build a trunk and how do I associate it to either audio port on G430 cabinet or the USB ports on cabinet ??

PossumButt1,

If you have a .wav file, you need the .WAV file in a very specific AVAYA format (CCITT A-Law or mu-Law, companding, 8Khz, 8 bit reolution, mono), then you can transfer it to a VAL or vVAL board, and set it as a MOH source.

You could use your premier MOH playback device, connected to an MM711 analog port, and set that as the music source.

You can't use the Audio or USB ports on the G430 for this.

see this link below for .WAV format, also listed below:
Important File Specifications
Voice Announcement over LAN (VAL) requires that announcement files are in the following *.wav formats:

CCITT A-Law or CCITT m-Law (mu-Law) companding format (do not use PCM)
8-kHz sample rate
8-bit resolution (bits per sample)
Mono (channels = 1)
